Doctor and Nurse Appointments

Cancelling your Appointment

If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone to cancel your appointment.

Patients have a choice as to whether they are seen at either our Kegworth or Gotham surgery during the week days or having an appointment at one of our outreach surgeries at the weekends or evenings in the Rushcliffe area.

For the majority of our patients, their choice will be at the Kegworth or Gotham surgeries with appointments during the week. You will see the regular listed partners and doctors of the practice. Appointments can be booked by telephoning our appointments line on 01509 674919 or via our newly launched on-line appointments booking service (you can register for this service by coming in to the surgery reception with photo ID (passport or photo driving licence) where you will be given your own log on details. We will always see URGENT medical problems on the same day.

Those wishing to access the extended GP evening and weekend surgeries, these are again booked by ringing the surgery telephone number during our opening hours. These extended hours are from 6.30pm and 8pm in the evening on weekdays and between 8.30am and 12.30pm at weekends. If you request one of these appointments, which are outside of usual working hours you will be offered a slot with a Rushcliffe GP, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant at one of three locations across the borough. The location will depend on the day of your appointment. The additional evening and weekend appointments will be available at:

  • Castle Healthcare Practice in West Bridgford
  • East Bridgford Medical Centre
  • Keyworth Medical Practice

Please note that all extended hours appointments are pre-bookable only by contacting our practice. There is no walk in service. If you require urgent assistance before 8am or after 6.30pm, please ring 111. As you may not be seeing your usual GP, you will need to give consent for the GP you are seeing to have access to your medical records and to send information about your consultation back to your usual GP.

Saturday appointments

There are fortnightly Saturday Surgeries at Kegworth from 8am to 11am. These are in addition to the extended hours described above and are primarily available to those patients who for either work reasons or for University commitments ( University students) who cannot get in during the week. These surgeries usually have 2 Doctors and 1 Nurse available for appointments.

Chaperones are available to doctors and patients. If you would like a chaperone to be present during a consultation, please request one at the time of the appointment if possible, otherwise when you arrive, although there could be a short delay while one is organised. If a male doctor needs to undertake a clinical examination of a female patient he would normally ask you if you wished a chaperone to be present or minded a chaperone being summoned. A female doctor might arrange for a male chaperone to be present for some consultations with male patients.

Consulting hours (Nurses)

Appointments are available from 8-30am to 12-20pm Monday to Friday, and 2pm to 5pm Monday to Thursday.
Nurses are able to deal with a large number of problems and patients should only make an appointment with a doctor if it cannot be dealt with by a nurse. Click here to see a list of the things you can see a nurse for.

Telephoning a doctor or nurse

The doctors are also available for telephone advice for things that might save you having to make an appointment.

Home visits

House calls are made for cases where there is a true medical need (for example house bound because of terminal illness) and not a social need. Patients are asked to attend the Surgery for consultations if they are able to travel.
The necessity for a home visit is at the discretion of the doctor and when there is doubt your doctor may ring to discuss the problem before deciding the most appropriate place for the consultation to take place. Medical examinations nowadays are more technical and often require a properly designed and equipped environment to take place in.
